At that time these boats were used for fishing off Newfoundland. The hulls were raw unvarnished wood and the sails were red brown in color. In 1878 these boats were replaced by lighter ones. Looks good. Not sturdy at all if you want to put any weight on it. It’s purely decorative and is not a functional shelf. I had to use toggle bolts for a hollow wall install. The hardware included was not helpful.
